The Perfect Companion For A BioPro 150, 190, or 380 Automated Biodiesel Processor!

Produced by Springboard Biodiesel, the same company that manufactures the famous BioPro line of processors, these dry wash towers are the perfect addition to your Biodiesel production environment! Made from high strength steel and powder coated to withstand the harshest Biodiesel setup, these towers are ready for action!

As with the BioPro line of processors, these towers were designed to be easy to use, easy to operate, and deliver great results all at the same time! Due to the compact design, and the Patent Pending ThetaLock technology, these towers are extremely simple to set up and use with practically any Biodiesel processor available.

How They Work
The Spring Pro T76 Dry Wash Towers work by using special dry wash media specifically designed for the Biodiesel market. The media, when used in conjuction with the Spring Pro T76 Dry Wash Towers, allows for Biodiesel to be washed much faster than using water washing. To do this, the towers come stock with BD-ZorbX dry wash media in one tower and DW-R10 Ion Exchange dry wash media in the other tower.

A pump then slowly pumps unwashed Biodiesel through the BD Zorb and then through the DW-R10 resin. The BD Zorb and DW-R10 work together to remove the residual glycerin and soaps left from the Biodiesel production process. The final result is Biodiesel that is free of soaps and glycerin. This cleansed fuel is then pumped out of the towers and into a vessel of your choice.

Dry Washing Basics
When dry washing, it's important to do a few tests to ensure your fuel is converted and ready to be washed. Dry washing can mask poor conversion fuel because emulsions don't occur. It's also difficult to know when dry wash media has been exhausted just by using looking at the fuel. This is because soap can easily dissolve into Biodiesel and in some cases won't effect the clarity of the fuel.

To ensure best results, here's some tests we recommend be performed on a regular basis.
1) Perform a 3/27 Methanol Conversion Test on your Biodiesel fuel prior to dry washing it.
This test will allow you to identify if the fuel is fully reacted or not. If it's not well reacted, you'll want to address this prior to dry washing as dry washing won't further react the Biodiesel In some cases poorly reacted fuel can even plug BD Zorb fairly quickly.

We offer a Biodiesel Conversion Test Kit that will allow you to quickly determine if your Biodiesel is well reacted or not. We also have a Tutorial Video that shows how this test can be performed.

2) Test Biodiesel for soap content both before and after dry washing through the towers..
This will let you know if the dry wash media is working properly or if it's time to regenerate or replace the dry wash media. DW-R10 can be regenerated by flushing methanol through the column containing DW-R10. However, BD Zorb, once spent, will need to be replaced.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DRY WASH SYSTEMS
Ion Exchange resins, such as DW-R10, Purolite, and others, as well as absorbent media, such as Magnesol and BD Zorb, effectively remove trace amounts of glycerin, soap, and ionic compounds. They are not, however, effective at removing residual methanol. Typically, unwashed biodiesel will contain 1-1.5% or higher residual methanol by volume. If this is not removed, the biodiesel will not comply with ASTM D6751. ASTM D2887, ASTM D2887M, EN14110, ASTM D93, and ASTM D613 are all sections of the ASTM D6751 standard which may be adversely effected if residual methanol is not removed from the finished fuel.

Bottom Line: Neither the SpringPro T76, nor any other dry wash column system constitutes a complete purification solution for unwashed biodiesel. To achieve ASTM D6751 compliance, a drywash column system must be used in conjunction with demethylation. To sufficiently demethylate raw biodiesel, it must be subjected to conditions equivalent to 180 degrees Fahrenheit and 60 torr. The drywash media supplied in the SpringPro T76 is NOT adversely affected by the presence of residual methanol, and in fact, we suggest running raw biodiesel through the SpringPro T76 before demethylation.

In the absence of a demethylation system in place, it is possible to reduce amounts of methanol in raw, unwashed Biodiesel by utilizing the 5% Pre-Wash Method. Details can be found by clicking here.

Simple To Use
When Springboard designed the Spring Pro T76, they researched several ways to make the dry wash towers simple to use, easy to maintain, and easy to refill. Out of this research was born the new patent pending Theta-Lok technology that allows each column to easily tilt 40 degrees.

By using the Theta-Lok technology, it allows the bottom of the towers to elevate making it much more easy to unload spent resin through the bottom ports of each of the the dry wash columns.

Fits A BioPro Like A Glove!

The Spring Pro T76 Dry Wash Towers can easily connect to any of the BioPro processors with extreme ease. By ordering the special "Premium Package", it's as simple as connecting hoses and flipping a switch! Soon instead of washing Biodiesel in 24 hours with water, the Spring Pro T76 Dry Wash Towers can cleanse your Biodiesel in a fraction of the time and use no water at all!

All In One & Ready To Use
The SpringPro T76 comes pre-loaded with dry wash media and has all of the fittings, filter, and pump to get up & running fast!

The SpringPro T76 includes two 10" Dry Wash Towers, an inlet strainer, a 20 GPH stainless steel metering pump which maintains its flow largely independent of head pressure, braided stainless steel jacketed plumbing to and from the inlet and exit of the T76, an exit fuel filter (automotive style), fuel filter pressure gauge, braided stainless steel jacketed connection hose attached camlock end for easy connection to a BioPro or other processor, as well as power cord, switch, and appropriate fuse.

The Spring Pro T76 system can be attached to practically any Biodiesel processor with ease. It also turns the Spring Pro T76 towers into a complete Dry Washing System.

Media Life
The dry wash media useful life is effected by the soap levels in the Biodiesel it's treating. Oil that titrates higher initially will have more soap that needs to be removed than lower titrating oil (ie. oil that's less acidic initially) and therefore can effect how quickly the dry wash media will last before needing to be replaced. The figures below for media life are good averages based on using average used cooking oil to produce your Biodiesel. Your media life may vary.
BD Zorb - Approximately 1500-2000 gallons
DW-R10 - Approximately 8,000-11,000 gallons
